CoEnzyme Q10 is an important nutrient for cardiovascular health, functioning as an antioxidant protecting the cells from oxidisation of lipids including LDL cholesterol. CoQ10 is also essential for the production of cell energy (ATP) in the mitochondria. Our cells produce less CoQ10 as we age and statin medication can inhibit cell production of CoQ10 reducing cell energy (ATP) production. CoQ10 in our products are in ubiquinol form, which has greater bioactivity than the ubiquinone form.
